DIY our family's woven pandanus mat!
This week, my mother and I made handicrafts called mats, these mats started from pandanus leaves which were processed by drying and processing with plaits which became creative or DIY. This pandan mat has many uses, especially for sitting mats and for sleeping mats, we use this pandan mat usually used for family sitting at home, we also use this pandan mat as a sitting mat for invited guests when attending a family gathering event at home.
My mother is very good at assembling woven mats by hand with a size of 1.2 meters wide and 5 square meters long. A few days ago I entered a forest and looked for pandan leaves, I collected as many pandan leaves as possible and then continued with the drying process, this process took about 3 days for the pandan leaves to be terrible. After the drying process I also helped my mother clean the pandan leaves and slice the pandan leaves with a thickness of 3 inches, the process was very easy and the next stage was for the weaving process.
The weaving process takes about two days to complete one mat. Mother has already finished one mat for last week. This week, mother continues the second matting process.
The weaving process is in progress, the mother deliberately gave two colors to the pandan leaves, namely red and dark white, both of which work for variations in the color of the side lines to make it more attractive and beautiful to look at.
There is one mat that is ready-made or ready to use, our family uses a mat for sleeping resting with the family at home, we also use panda mats for family sitting mats and this pandan mat has become a tradition in my area for generations to woven pandan mats.
DIY our family for an engagement experience this weekend... :)
