驴Hacia d贸nde deber铆a evolucionar el minimalismo?
Where should minimalism evolve?
This was an excellent question I was asked in class. As I previously shared, I held a session where my students asked me questions about minimalism. The goal was for them to practice public speaking and develop critical thinking, since this is the part of the year where we cover finances.
I thought the question was brilliant. For me, it is very easy to answer, but I know most content creators in the minimalism space would answer it differently.
My answer is: Minimalism doesn鈥檛 evolve; we are the ones who do as we walk its path. Minimalism is a trail that is already there, unchanging. We are simply discovering that trail. Minimalism is spiritual, and the spirit does not evolve鈥攊t has no reason or purpose to do so; it already is what it is. We are the evolution of minimalism. It all comes down to how many people become aware of that path, and how many choose to walk it and discover it.
To think that minimalism can evolve is to treat it like a consumer product. That is precisely what content creators do. The very same people who turn minimalism into a trend are the ones who believe it needs to evolve, when what actually needs to change is their own concept of minimalism.
Of course, they need that concept to continue鈥攖hey need people to keep viewing minimalism as a product鈥攂ecause otherwise, they run out of a business model. Planting the idea that minimalism evolves provides the perfect excuse to sell you more "tricks" to become a better minimalist, when the only thing you really need to decide is to keep walking that path. That journey is personal, and you don鈥檛 need to buy anyone鈥檚 guide.
Naturally, having a mentor, teacher, or guide can speed up our pace. However, the real ones are brought into our lives by circumstances, free of charge. Anyone trying to convince you to pay them to show you the way is a "false prophet."
Just decide to walk, let everything flow, don't rush, and don't compete. With that alone, you have begun your journey into minimalism鈥攚hich is, simply put, a spiritual discovery.
