On 17-08-1961, President Sukarno established a 433-foot-tall monument in the name of Tugu Monas. The establishment of monument aims to commemorate the struggle of the people of Indonesia against colonial Dutch colonialism.
At the top of the monument is crowned by a 28kg gold-coated flame. supposedly, the 28 kg of gold comes from a wealthiest businessman from aceh named Teuku Markam.
