Jazz for a drizzly November day

I thought I would post some of my recent recordings with the professional jazz pianist Marco Marconi .

The first tune is Bei Mir Bist Du Sch​ö​n:

"Bei Mir Bistu Shein" (Yiddish: בײַ מיר ביסטו שעהן, or Yiddish: בײַ מיר ביסטו שיין, [ˌbaj ˈmir ˌbistu ˈʃejn], "To Me You're Beautiful") is a popular Yiddish song written by lyricist Jacob Jacobs and composer Sholom Secunda for a 1932 Yiddish language comedy musical, I Would If I Could (in Yiddish, Men Ken Lebn Nor Men ... This tune was made popular by the Andrews Sisters, and it's played here by me on the C clarinet, with Marco on piano.

The next is Moon Over Bourbon Street, by Sting. I recorded it for the @radioliquorice Halloween Special so it has a lot of echo, which I added in Audacity afterwards. It's an effect that I usually feel is a bit over the top 😀, but I was going for spooooky!

My last song for this post is from the 1971 film Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, and was written by British composers Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley. This arrangement was a bit off the top of our heads but I'm glad Marco decided to step up the tempo in the middle - it really boosted the energy, I felt.

I was inspired to play it because Marco made a recording of it for his album Trialogue - you can probably hear that his solo is pretty developed - he's already dug deep into this song. It was a pleasure to get to play it with him.
