Hi friends of the Hive Motors community, a couple of publication ago I was telling you about a diagnosis that I performed on my car with the ELM 327 interface tool of OBDII protocol that I use in conjunction with the Android application Infocar, thanks to this diagnosis I learned of two faults in my vehicle, but the reason that led me to perform this diagnosis initially was that product of work to correct a gasoline leak, after being corrected, the vehicle was left with a malfunction, which to this day I couldn't correct.
Saludos amigos de la comunidad Hive Motors, hace par de publicación les contaba sobre un diagnostico que realice en mi carro con la herramienta de interfaz ELM 327 de protocolo OBDII que utilizo en conjunto con la aplicación para Android Infocar, gracias a este diagnostico supe de dos fallas en mi vehículo, pero la razón a la que me llevo a realizar este diagnostico inicialmente fue que producto de trabajo de corrección de un bote de gasolina, luego de ser corregido, el vehículo quedo con una falla, que hasta el día de hoy no he podido corregir.
To give you context, I tell you that the vehicle was working perfectly, but one day a smell of gasoline began to be felt more even while the vehicle was running, immediately associate this smell with a possible fuel spill, therefore, I started a visual inspection to see if this was the reason, since it is obvious that, when you feel this smell, it comes from a leak. At first glance it wasn't easy to see where it came from, but after a long check, I was able to see where it originated, it came from the injector rail, as I show below.
Para darles contexto, les cuento que el vehículo funcionaba perfectamente, pero un día un olor a gasolina empezó a sentirse más aun estando el vehículo en funcionamiento, de inmediato asocie este olor con un posible bote de combustible, por ende, inicie una inspección visual a fin de saber si esta era la razón, ya que es obvio que, al sentir este olor, provenga de un bote. A simple vista no fue sencillo dar de donde provenía, pero luego de un largo chequeo, logre divisar donde se originaba, provenía del riel de inyectores, como les muestro a continuación.
In some vehicles this repair is simple, removing the injector rail doesn't require disassembling other parts to access it, however, in my car a Chery A1, known in my country as Arauca, removing only the rail is possible if you have thin or small hands, as it is covered by a curvature of the intake body, so in my case to remove the injector rail due to my fat hands, I must first remove the intake body.
En alguno vehículos esta reparación es sencilla, retirar el riel de inyectores no requiere que se deba desmontar otras partes para poder acceder a él, sin embargo, en mi carro un Chery A1, conocido en mi país como Arauca, retirar solamente el riel es posible si posees manos delgadas o pequeñas, ya que se encuentra cubierto por una curvatura del cuerpo de admisión, por eso en mi caso para poder desmostar el riel de inyectores debido a mis manos gordas, debo quitar primero el cuerpo de admisión.
This task is also somewhat tedious, because the screws that come out of the engine block where the nuts are screwed to hold the intake body, aren't easily accessible, some are visible, which can be loosened with a simple 10 mm wrench, but again if you have small or thin hands. The other nuts are impossible for someone to reach them, not even a baby's hand can reach them, an extension is necessary, so I had to buy one with a ¼" square drive, because being not so thick it could pass through the openings of the intake body and reach the nuts.
Esta tarea también es un tanto tediosa, debido a que los tornillos que salen del bloque del motor donde enroscan las tuercas se sujetan el cuerpo de admisión, no son de fácil acceso, unas son visibles, que medianamente se puede aflojar con una simple llave de 10 mm, pero nuevamente si posees manos pequeñas o delgadas. Otras de las tuercas si no las alcanza nadie, ni la mano de un bebe llega a ellas, por eso es necesaria una extensión, por eso tuve que comprar una cuyo cuadrante para el rache fuese de ¼”, ya que al ser no tan gruesa pudiera pasar a través de las aberturas del cuerpo de admisión y alcanzar así las tuercas.
Thanks to this extension it is possible to disassemble the intake body and access more easily to the injector rail, of course I must first make the proper disconnection of all the electrical part that accompanies this system, such as the power supply of the injectors, the spark plug wires, the power supply of the throttle body and sensors. It is also necessary to remove the fuel line and so we can have the whole part out to work more comfortably.
Gracias a esta extensión es posible desmontar el cuerpo de admisión y acceder más fácilmente al riel de inyectores, claro esta que antes debo hacer la debida desconexión de toda la parte eléctrica que acompaña este sistema, como la alimentación eléctrica de los inyectores, los cables de las bujías, la alimentación del cuerpo de aceleración y los sensores. También es necesario quitar la línea de combustible y así podemos tener la parte entera fuera para trabajar de forma más cómoda.
Already with the injector rail disassembled, the reason for the gasoline leak was becoming more and more evident, the presence of dirt, carbon and wear was very high. I don't pretend to justify myself, but much of this dirt is due to the poor quality of the gasoline that is currently sold in my country, which forces us to perform more periodic cleanings, and in my case I hadn't done it for more than 1 year, also the accumulated dirt of the microfilters of the injectors was impressive, besides the fact that their orings were hardened, brittle and worn out.
Ya con el riel de inyectores desmontado, la razón del bote de gasolina se hacia cada vez mas evidente, la presencia de suciedad, carbón y desgaste era mucha. No pretendo justificarme, pero mucho de este sucio se debe a la mala calidad de la gasolina que en mi país actualmente se vende, lo que nos obliga a realizar limpiezas mas periódicas, y en mi caso no lo hacia desde hace mas de 1 año, también el sucio acumulado de los microfiltros de los inyectores era impresionante, además de que sus orings estaban endurecidos, quebradizos y desgastados.
To remove the micro filters I used a lag screw and pliers. To replace them buy a small orings kit that also has microfilters, and one by one with a small wire brush clean the injectors with some thinner, replace the microfilters and put the new orings, put everything back together and mount the throttle body.
Para retirar los micro filtros utilice un tornillo tirafondo y un alicate. Para reemplazarlos compre un pequeño kit de los orings que también trae microfiltros, y uno a uno con un cepillo de alambres pequeños limpie los inyectores con algo de thinner que me quedaba, reemplace los microfiltros y coloque los orings, arme todo nuevamente y monte el cuerpo de aceleración.
I proceeded to turn on to see how everything was, and there wasn't any more gasoline leak, but the failure of the code p1612 occurred, which to date still looking for the origin, everything points to the possibility that there is an additional air flow that deserves to disassemble the intake body again, however, I am also reviewing some cables and replacing them, so I hope to bring you in my next publication the definitive solution to this new problem.
Procedí a encender para ver como quedo todo, y no había mas bote de gasolina, pero se presento la falla del código p1612, que hasta la fecha aun busco el origen, todo apunta a que posiblemente hay una estrada de aire adicional que amerita que desmonte nuevamente el cuerpo de admisión, sin embargo, también me encuentro revisado algunos cables y sustituyéndolos, así que espero traerles en mi siguiente publicación la solución definitiva a este nuevo problema.
