@arunava: Believe me the pleasure is all mine. I never in my wildest dreams thought that someone would be interviewing me.
@arunava: My name is Arunava, yes it's not just my Username it is actually my real name. I am a 26 year old guy who is currently on the hunt for a Job apart from that I am involved a lot in Cryptocurrencies especially Steemit. Since I have completed a Year on Steemit I have started to do some Promotions for Minnows especially newcomers who sometimes gets neglected. Although I don't have a lot of SP I do try to make a small difference.
@daniel-otaniel: That's quite impressive. Where are you from?
@arunava: I am from the Beautiful yet Humid Country of India - The largest Democracy in the World.
@daniel-otaniel- I so love it when someone describes his or her country with so much pride, beautiful India. So tell us about the place.
@arunava: So I live in a State called West Bengal, which is very ironic as it is located on the Eastern part of India. The people native to this State are referred to as Bengalis and we love our Fish and Sweets. These two things are almost in our DNA. Apart from that I have lived most of my Life near Mountains as my Dad works in the Tea Industry so I have witnessed some beautiful breadthtaking landscapes in my Life, but what I really crave is to see the Ocean.
@daniel-otaniel: you must have had such an amazing childhood. Where are the fun places to go in Bengal?
@arunava: Usually people will say Kolkata the capital of West Bengal is a fun place to be but I am a bit different I tend to go towards places that provide scenic views and serenity. Places like Darjeeling, Delo, Kalimpong, Santiniketan, Victoria Memorial and there are many more to go.
@daniel-otaniel: Beautiful scenes, so much nature. What festivals do they observe in Bengal or India?
@arunava: Bengalis are very atheistic people so we do celebrate our festivals a lot. If we have to chose one festival that is just above others that would certainly be Durga Puja which is a very big event in our life's. The festival lasts for 10 days although it's the last five days that are celebrated the most.
@daniel-otaniel: A festival of 10 days, sounds like crazy fun. What dish is most common in Bengal or India?
@arunava: We love our Fish and among those fishes we love Hilsa and Chitol varieties of Fish plus a sweet dish called Rasogolla is like our favorite desert.
@daniel-otaniel: I can't wait to have these, looks delicious. What are the kind of music that Bengalis listen to?
@arunava: Unfortunately the Music has deteriorated a lot in this Time. There was a Time when Tabindra Sangit (a type of Music) was played in every house and each song sounded different. Although I never liked those songs, but I did respect them as they had originality. But now most of the Hindi songs are copied from Hollywood and if you listen to a single music for white some time than you will realize that there is a certain tune that is repeated in every songs. It's called the Algorithmic Tune. So I tend to listen to English Songs . Here is a random screenshot of my playlist

@daniel-otaniel: Wow...that's nice....I've listen to some of his songs too, especially nothing makes sense anymore....that track got me for days. Which of his song speaks best to you.
@arunava: Yes that is one of my favorites too, currently I just can't stay away from Promises I can't keep which is his latest song. But if I have to say the all time great song that would have to be In the End

@daniel-otaniel: Welcome back to the show, we still have @arunava here with us. So @arunava, with the modern trend, do people still believe in cultural practices in Bengali
@arunava: This question is a bit difficult to answer as I have mixed feelings about this. We have several Cultural Practices in our culture infact half our calendar is filled with Culture related Festivals. I mentioned Durga Puja in my previous comment which is one of the biggest tradition we have but we also have many others. So we tend to go towards a balance. Usually we all participate in Durga Puja and the rest of the Traditions we try to avoid as to maintain a bit of Modern trend.
@daniel-otaniel: Great concept, finding a balance between the traditional beliefs and the modern trend. What was your funniest childhood experience?
@arunava: My funniest childhood experience, this is a hard one for me. There are many funny experiences in my childhood, like when I was in hostel I used to sneak into the Hostel kitchen in Midnight and cook food for myself and my roomies as the Hostel cook was not that good. Funny thing is that's where I learned cooking from.
@daniel-otaniel: It must have been so much fun to be able to do that.
@arunava: Yes it was fun but scary too as the Warden used to hit us with sticks for mistakes so if I had been caught there would have been hell to pay
@daniel-otaniel: Thank goodness you were not. How long have you been on steemit and what has been your experience?
@arunava: I have been on Steemit just over a Year. I just completed my Steemit Anniversary a few weeks ago. As for experience I have gone both ways, I have done some good here and some bad. In my initial days I did resort to a bit of Plagiarism which got be banned from @steemcleaners which was a kick to my arse. I had to go through a lot and produce good content for a while without any payouts to get out of their Blacklist. Now I am trying to do some good, currently I am hosting some Contests for free giveaways plus I used to run a free Upvote Giveaway especially for Minnows.
@daniel-otaniel: That's just great. You host lots of contest and giveaways, what was your inspiration when you started?
@arunava: I don't really remember what Inspiration I had for hosting these Giveaways but I do remember the fact that I wanted to keep the Newbies on Steemit from leaving this platform. I know how tough it is when after 7 days of writing a post you get nothing. So I wanted to just give them something so they never lose hope. This is something I clearly remember, I was on the verge of quitting steemit as I was not getting any Payouts when I started but suddenly I got a 60 USD Upvote from @blocktrades on one of my Post which was a Recipe for a dish called Biryani. The feeling I had at that moment was priceless. I can't give a 60 USD Upvote to someone as I don't have that much SP but I can give something so that's what I decided to do.
@arunava: Thanks mate. That was one of my highlights here on Steemit
@daniel-otaniel: It surely will be, a big upvote is a massive turnaround. What advice do you have for newbies?
@arunava: The thing is you have to invest your Time here on Steemit you don't necessarily have to spend thousands of dollars to get some decent earning. If you are writing good Content then sooner than later you will get some good views which will lead to better payouts. I have only invested my Time here on Steemit and I have never invested a single penny from outside so you can see that it is entirely possible to get some decent earnings as long as you don't lose hope and have faith
@daniel-otaniel: You heard the man Newbies, just keep posting those good content, the huge payouts will come soon. What tags do you visit most on steemit?
@arunava: Ok as for Tags I have never given specific thought as to which Tags I visit. Usually I look at My Feed for content from people I follow plus I check the Hot Page and Promoted Page. Plus the Ace in the Hole is the New Posts Tab where I sometimes find Hidden Gems. IF I have to point out any specific tags it would have to be food and Travel cause I love them both.
@daniel-otaniel: One final question, what will you change on steemit, if given a chance?
@arunava: this question requires a lot of thinking and the only thing that popped in my head is the Downvoting issue. You might know that there is a massive Flag war going on right now. I know the Flag button is a necessary evil but I would like to slightly change it by adding a clause where if you are flagging someone then you will be required to give a valid reason for your Flag.
@daniel-otaniel: I agree with you on that, there should be a reason for a flag, not just the flag war we have going on.
