Maybe I should have tagged this article; ‘the number in member’. At least, we all have a fair knowledge on sample space and sample size in sets and probability theorems.
I spend most of my day listening to sermons from different preachers I can reach through social media. I can testify that it has really helped in boosting me. Experiences and testimonies shared can go a long way. The way these sermons mostly aligns to fit my day shows that indeed The Holy Spirit is always teaching me something.
Talking of one of such, some days earlier I happened to listen to one which really grabbed my attention. Why is the church wavering? It is a disadvantage to start with. Very few understand what is actually going on within the walls of church and well, how it should also play out in their daily lives.
For instance, a church can have a record of 500 members. Are you sure they are 500? How did you know? Maybe there was a big event with what may be termed ‘entertainment’ in-between and the house was complete.
Maybe we should look into another event still centering on church. Think of announcing that there will be a prayer meeting to take the atmosphere maybe ahead of a program or let's say to keep territorial control in check for the benefits of the church. How many showed up? Ahh!! I thought we had 500+ members.
The choirs just love to sing, the band men just love to play the drums, ushers just admire looking good in ushering clothes. Talk of the elders, most just love maintaining their big seat, passing down orders and so on. Then you will come to realize the church is made up of many numbers and few members.
It can be a pity that one of the most important aspects of the church is ignored.

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

Maybe you may not understand why God later said l, ‘I will rebuild the tabernacle of David’. Why not the magnificent structure King Solomon built for God?
To conclude, let me add, there are activities that God prioritizes. It is something that every Christian faith member has to sit up for. We need members not numbers for the church to build strength. So the take home question is, which are you?
