They kicked against Bitcoin and the cryptoverse. There was a time when the post office was fighting against electronic mailing systems. We can go on and on. Bitcoin has now been taken over; I don't want to spend much time here. Technology has invaded the way human movements can be curtailed. Chat, and many online conversations stepped up. Meetings are now converged from your very home or office: all you need is a smart device and an internet connection.
Moving forward, it seems meat production will soon leave the hands of butchers. Ok, it is currently controversial and the reply can be, how long. The technology is currently on a small scale production. Investors are skeptical after seeing a market fall in lab grown meat' demands.
Singapore stepped up to strengthen their meat production supplies through this technology after facing an economic crunch in 2020 during the COVID-19 era. Yes, it was due to over dependency on imported food supply.
With government approval of lab meat production, one would be looking at scalability, but it has been the vice. Five years later or so, the United States has approved it under President Trump's regime. Not much impact in terms of demands. As we speak, several states in US has kicked against the entire idea.
Talking of kicking against, Italy seems to be that top country that has put a big ban on lab grown meat. The big question can be why? Unhealthy meals or a threat to long term business?
Looking at the latter, Italy is known as a top producer of beef for their cheffing industry. Is the government trying to preserve their livestock farming history? Adding to that, is it an early fight to curb unemployment for organic farmers in this industry. We all know or at least have a glimpse of what awaits these farmers when enough chunks of meat can be processed from the lab. It is one of those things you wouldn't imagine; meat is now from labs.
The next question can be, for how long? We are looking into the coming generation as we speak. It can be easy to wave off such eating practices from this current generation adding to how labs are perceived. At least I know, there will be how one would perceive a jollof rice (just assuming) that was prepared in a laboratory instead of an eatery.
To conclude, let me add, it seems we are awaiting another unemployment move and one can't assume how long it might take to entirely ravage the organic livestock agriculture industry. The best option will be to advance and well it can be a difficult task for individuals and local governments who have been very used to this model of businesses.
