Business should remain a process. Ok, I have a reason for saying this. Many entrepreneurs or wannabe entrepreneurs always focus most times on pulling a transaction. Not bad, but make sure you don't make your customer ‘a one time’.
A customer may have that mentality of when I am done with this one, I am gone. Business is a strategic study especially when you are at your growth stage. We are not running a luxury company (maybe for now) and there is a need to think smart here. Which type of customer just showed up? Small, medium or the big one?
So how do you know? Well, one can start with the strategy of taste. Everyone wants quality to start with so it is likely to be in-between. Know how to advertise fast from high to low. It has been something I have had to undergo today.
After meeting up with a customer, I had to take a look at his sample design. It turned out that taste was a green tick but complying to the price was another. So what do we do? It can be easy to reject the entire offer or find a quick substitution.
Even the first quick substitutions weren't still ok to him (price factor). How do I resolve it? You want to be a designer?, you must know how to substitute. How can you look at a design and extract something similar at an affordable price?
Ok, I didn't ignore team work to start with. What can we do from here? This client is a medium class and we can't ignore it. Idea here, idea there. The target is both an easy sew and an elegant look. We can't afford to craft something that will take so much time for a lower pay. Customers don't care about this, how many times do you hear that; is it not just to cut and sew? Ok, let's leave that side.
That was when I started putting out different samples and extract designs from one to attach to another. This technology era makes it very easy to do business. I was arguing with him over a chat and sending him pictures.
Finally, my redesigning grabbed his attention. Without even sewing it, I am expecting it to be a stunner. I am sure if we can keep him well excited in this first try, we are likely to make him a lasting customer. One customer always introduces your brand to another. How did I even get to meet him? Another customer did.
As I earlier said, be smart in business, some customers should serve as adverts. Don't punch too much on price, reason with them and also spread your visibility.
