Happy Sunday to everyone out there, it has been a tremendous one I must say today. I didn't really plan it but that's how it turned out. Today is August 2nd and guess what? It is the first Sunday of the month. First Sunday service in my local church is always a long one. With so many activities fixed in-between, it mostly choke other things I need to meet.
On other Sundays, I would have preferred the first service that usually for two hours. Hours aside, it has always been very impactful to me. Everything is just focused on building you up without much of this and that. To even add to that, I haven't really been that steady in my local (headquarters) church.
New churches were and have been planted and well I can say, it is something that has not been fully checkmated. Ok, everyone wants to worship where things are already ready made. When you talk of building up the new ones, the response is always poor. People see things from different lenses. As for me, my pursuit is always the word and not the crowd.
This doesn't mean I am against standard, no but what I mean is this, be careful that your service in God's house doesn't just translate into human activities. Ok, maybe I will cover an article on ‘Knowing God and Knowing about God’ in my next article.
Fast-forwarding, after the usual one hour prayer time in the vestry and also the general in the headquarters. I was thinking of which local church to actually visit.
Oh! There is one of my pastor friends that got posted from that headquarters some months back and I haven't visited his new preaching station. Nothing bad in worshipping there. At first, I wanted to put up a call to tell him I am coming and at some point I said no; let me surprise him. It happened he wasn't around today or maybe I missed the particular church he told me about because we have three of our churches by the same road.
I felt discouraged coming at first and later knew I had to be very careful. I came to church to worship, not to prioritize meeting someone. Him not being around doesn't mean I should lose focus. I had to quickly reconfigure my mindset and it paid off. During the sermon, I learned a lot and I am not regretting being a part of service today.
To conclude, let me add, I think I will be doing more faith touring to touch several of our churches that are within my reach. There is a lot to learn in the process; what are the improvements and setbacks? Are we actually growing and what can I do to help? Day by day, my ministerial journey is getting clearer. Am I not a Hunter for Christ?
