How much risk are you willing to take to secure or prove something? My mom once told me a story of a boy and his father who was a canoe transporter. The story was centered about a day of a great storm. Passengers were panicking and only the boy was calm inside the boat and his dad was paddling patiently and tactically to beat the storm. In the end, everyone successfully reached the shore. A passenger was interested in how the son wasn't panicking; ‘my dad has always won over the storm’. What an answer.
We are going to look into dogged faith again. This time, can we call it ‘faith by experience’. It is good to read the scriptures as often times as you can. Moments come when logus turns to rhema. I get this most frequently and today was just me getting such refreshing words.
The first thing you can even imagine, where did Peter get this kind of dogged faith? I Know he flawed in the later scenario nevertheless, let's start from faith.
Matthew 14:28 NIV
Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.
And at the Lord’s command, Peter took a leap of faith into open water. This is where it can be a wow! Peter!! How? What were you thinking?
You need to be out of your carnal mind in order to act out faith. I have one of such experiences that shifted me into another dimension with God. Faith is not theory; so I may ask, what faith step have you taken this week, this month in the half of this year already?. Secondly, are you holding on to the very end?
It is something worth noting, you must act faith out to the very end. This was the fate of Peter at the latter end of this story. To a point, carnality caught up with him. How can I walk on water; this is against the law of gravity. Fear came in and he started drowning. Thanks be to Jesus for his mercy.
To conclude, let me add, on my end, I picked three things; first, faith is thinking of the box (breaking down the carnality mindset). Secondly, hold on to the very end; it means you need to remain in faith to keep acting faith.
1 Corinthians 10:12 NIV
So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall!
The third part is understanding that God will always show up Himself as God. And the Lord told him Come!
Matthew 14:28-29 NIV
Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” [29]“Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. JESUS will not fail you.
