Who am I to complain about my frizzy hair when someone’s on chemotherapy wishes her hair to stop falling out?

Who am I to complain about how difficult it is to lose weight or to exercise when someone’s had a car accident and no longer physically able to even walk?

Who am I to complain about my headache when someone’s undergoing a brain surgery?

Who am I to complain when my daughter keeps calling name when someone’s praying that she will bear a child?

Who am I to complain about my husband leaving me when someone’s crying because she is a battered wife?

Who am I to complain about life when someone’s praying that she could live another day?

"Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference." –American theologian Reinhold Niebuhr (1892–1971).

  • I can’t control the weather (but I can dress accordingly).
  • I can’t control traffic (but I can control what time I should be on the road).
  • I can’t control someone who is complaining (but I can give a little more empathy).

The things in life that we can’t change can be looked at the brighter side in a calm manner. Whatever it is that we can’t change we must be content and know that God has it under control. Nothing happens without His approval. He is sovereign over all things.

Hats off to this guy Nick Vujicic, who didn’t complain that he doesn’t have limbs and that he was disabled by birth, he thrived despite being bullied. He’s now a motivational speaker and a founder of “Life Without Limbs” and “Attitude is Altitude”. Who am I to complain?

Charlize Theron's father is an Alcoholic, threatened both teenaged Charlize and her mother while drunk, physically attacking her mother. She witnessed her mother shot and killed her father in the act of self-defense. She could well be traumatized but she chose to become what she is today. Who am I to complain?

Let’s start to open our eyes and notice the small things and be thankful from the moment you open your eyes in the morning, be grateful that you are given another day, another opportunity to keep fighting, to change the wrong things that you’ve done, to apologize, to mend, to heal and to forgive yourself and to be better.  So next time when you feel like complaining or your feeling sorry about your life, look around you, look down at your legs, and imagine them gone. Hold your breath and imagine that’s the last.
