The #introduceyourself post is a must 🌄

I always recommend hiveonboard.com when trying to get new users to sign up on Hive. I think the process is great and the amount of resources that @hiveonboard provides to new users is fantastic. We have came a long way towards having a smooth method to allow new users to create their first Hive account.

One major issue I am still seeing is that those new users start their journey with zero HP, which leaves them without enough resource credits to transact. Right away the user is left thinking they are doing something wrong when they get an error trying to do their first few posts or comments. It is our duty as a referrer to give the new users a HP delegation. However what happens if the user was not referred? Who delegates to them then?

Also another huge missed opportunity is the fact that the #introduceyourself post is not pushed harder on these new users. Currently if they do not search for what to do as a new user, then they will most likely miss out on the opportunity to do a proper introduction. This first post can give the user the ability to earn enough HP to not need a delegation at all. That is of course as long as we have active curators for the #introduceyourself tag.

Make #introduceyourself more popular ⚠️

I am proposing the idea that there needs to be a form with intro questions that helps the user make their first post. They do not have to be multiple choice, I think the new user will be able to come up with answer by themselves.

This should be a list of questions that they briefly answer that will automatically be formatted into a clean looking blog once they enter their posting key. Of course it would also make sure to use #introduceyourself so that the user doesn’t accidentally forget to do that.

I think that having something like this to greet new users when they are first starting to use something like @peakd would be hugely beneficial. Whether it be a banner that shows at the top until they complete the task or an entirely separate tab that is underneath the pencil icon on PeakD.

Ideally this form would also encourage users to attach some photos. Plus explain how post payouts take 7 days and the user can expect to be able to post and comment more freely once they get the payout for their #introduceyourself post. Setting the payout to 100% HP for them would make a lot of sense too to better solve the RC issue.

This and this are excellent examples of how a proper #introduceyourself video could be created and posted on @threespeak. However not all users are comfortable on camera or do not have the means of creating a video like the two I linked. That is why making it easier to craft a written post is essential to increase the odds that a new user will stick around.

What questions should we ask❓

Now it is time for some community discussion. We need to work together to conceptualize the most well-rounded #introduceyourself form.

Comment your ideas for what specific questions every new Hive user should answer in their #introduceyourself post. Some users may wish to remain anonymous so they will always have the option of not answering questions that give away their identity.

We can do a lot of the thinking for these new users and make their transition to Hive much easier. Perhaps we will even solve many of the issues that these new users are having with a lack of RCs and interaction on their brand new profile.

Here are a few examples of questions I think would be good to ask every new user:

• Where are you from?
• How old are you?
• What are your hobbies?
• Where did you hear about Hive?
• How long have you been into cryptocurrency?
• What is your past experience with other social media platforms?
• What type of user do you plan to be on Hive? (content creator, curator, developer, etc.)
• What questions do you have about Hive?
• Which dApp interests you most on Hive?
• What kind of dApp do you wish to use on Hive?

There are an endless amount of things that we could ask new users to help them have an amazing #introduceyourself post. I encourage you to comment your ideas so that something like this can become a reality.
