Tesla Robotaxi /w Clean Planet Bag #37 by Daily Plogger

For Tesla it is all about their self-driving capabilities these days. Yesterday was Autonomy Day and they showcased their Autopilot and Full self-driving technology. The Tesla Autopilot was improved incrementally and received a lot of positive feedback from the drivers. The Full Self-driving was demonstrated with stop sign and traffic light recognition. Elon Musk expects this Level 4 or 5 Autonomy to be feature complete by the end of this year. Teslas rapid progress is mainly due to their incredible amount of data collected from their fleet. Coming up next is the utilisation of this technology and their fleet in a ride-sharing service that competes with Uber and Lyft.
Preparations for a big launch of this Robotaxi is already on the horizon. The recently annouced leasing of Model 3 comes at a significant point in time. Tesla develpoed their own chip specially designed for their AI technology.This hardware just entered production which means the Model 3s for leasing will all be equipped with Full Self Driving hardware. And here comes the real trick: Leasing of Model 3 will be limited to 3 years without buy option - that means all these Model 3s will return to Tesla. So all of a sudden Tesla will have many full self driving cars at hand,
being used ones is not a problem for ride sharing and the leasing already earned them some money. By the way Tesla owners will also be able to provide their vehicles to
the ride sharing fleet earning some money from their car when they don't need it.
My bet is that in 3 years Tesla will have gone through regulatory issues for self driving as well as some tests with a ride-sharing service. Then they hit the market hard!
