It's been a frenetic few days so far on the new UI for LeoFinance and by all accounts, the numbers have been very good. Although it's obviously still early in the game, it feels like this could really be a game-changer going forward. There are so many people and communities just here on Hive that can benefit from this that simply bringing them into the Leo community can jump the numbers dramatically. We're already starting to see it as a few communities are using some $LEO delegations to entice their members to try it out.
I think as the UI continues to improve, and people start to get used to the little idiosyncrasies of the platform, the numbers will continue to grow. Hopefully that 5000 MAUs by year end number that @khal and Co are shooting for needs a large revision upwards over the next couple months. This place truly could revolutionize "tweeting" on the blockchain.
In the meantime, there are a couple things I still find a little cumbersome/clunky that hopefully can get "fixed" fairly soon.
First, the notifications tab. Personally, I think that needs to be on a separate screen. Or even better, do it like Ecency does it with a dropdown showing all of them and then the ability to click on each one to go to where it took place. While I like being able to see the information across the screen as it is now, if people respond to a meme, the interface currently reprints the meme along with the comment. One of my greta memes, for instance, takes up like three pages of scrolling to get to the end. There needs to be a way to either condense all of that, or may bottle all comments for a certain post in one banner. You could then click the banner and see them all individually if you want. Same with votes. Maybe there could be a running total on the first one with a summary of "12 people voted for $1.73" and then if you click on it you could see everything individually. It would also be nice if you could clear or hide notifications you've already viewed. Currently they really clutter the screen.
Those are just my thoughts on this right now. Maybe I'll get used to it and it won't be as annoying. But as it stands, it's much easier for me to just go to Ecency and view all of my notifications there. I can click on each comment and respond instantly.
My second "complaint", for lack of a better word, is with the Publishing side of things. While I really like the way it's set up, we're still missing emojis, which are obviously a much-used feature of short-form. I also still have an issue getting images to post instead of links on threads. For some reason it always just shows the links. I've found a workaround with placing directly after, but obviously it would be much easier without those extra steps.
Another thing that is annoying is I can't click on somebody's name and go to their page. Most of the people I click on have websites or twitter handles or whatever, outside of LeoFinance. I don't want to go to those places. I want to go to their "homepage" so I can see past articles. Right now, clicking on their name brings me to their profile page on LeoFinance, which only shows me their latest threads. If they are an active threader, I may have to scroll through hundreds of them before I may find an article they wrote...and only because they linked it on threads.
So, that is some of my initial #feedback on the new UI. The mechanics are spectacular. It's fast, smooth, attractive, and very easy to use. I can't wait for the upgrades and improvements that will be coming in the weeks and months ahead. Including the wallet.
I'm having a lot of fun using it and have even gotten close to trying it out on my phone. Which is saying a LOT for me. lol
As always...
Hive is the Way.
LeoFinance, the Gateway.
PS. We also need a "Links" button so we can add LeoGlossary into the mix.
