An alliance member of mine @brandyb is starting up a project called #adoptaminnow Check out her post here if you are interested in adopting or being adopted. I have been considering joining the cause but was unsure what I could offer. I have been a member of Steemit for over a year and only have about 1000SP. But looking back, there are quite a few lessons that I have learned that I wish I had known a lot sooner in my Steemit career. This post is dedicated to one of those lessons.
Show Your Face!
That is right. Show your face!
Now a point that I may have missed is that you should ALWAYS have at least one image in your post. If you do not have any images then your post will not have an image in the "FEED". Lets be honest, when you are looking at your FEED or the Trending or New posts feeds, Images are the thing that catch your attention the most!
Here is an image of a section of the Trending feed today:
Now please note the following:
They all have images
Many of the images are of their own face.
Now having an interesting image is the most important thing. It doesn't have to be you if it is something already catchy. An interesting image will hopefully bring people to your post.
But lets face it, for some of your posts you don't have a great image. You just pick something off the net that you think fits the topic. I have a better idea for you. Take this opportunity to get some self marketing out there!
Put up an image of yourself
The more people see you, the more they will recognize you.
If they start to recognize you then they will start to be drawn to click on your post. They will see your face in their feed and say, oh yeah I have read his posts before.
Hopefully this will help bring return visitors back to your blog.
The other thing it does is makes people feel like they know you. Instead of just reading a post, they are now reading YOUR post. Their brain is associating the content with your face. They feel like they see you everyday. You are now like a coworker, you are not just an article.
Getting to know others is important to success
You need friends on Steemit in order to succeed. Friends like @c0ff33a. Hey @c0ff33a TAG! You are it!
I picked him because he often also uses pictures of himself in his comments! This is another great technique for all the same reasons as adding an image of yourself to your post.
Again, if people continue to see you commenting on their posts they may wonder "Who is this great looking guy". I mean who is this person who keeps coming back to my posts. Hopefully this will lead them to your blog and checking out your content as well.
