So today is Friday again and it is my first week back to work after Christmas vacation. The first week back is always hectic, so I am pleaded with you to sit down and "Have another drink with Dadview"!
A while back I wrote a post called Great Local Beers. I love buying local when I can. Craft breweries are everywhere now. I would highly recommend to all of you readers to experiment and find a beer that is local to you. Then you can share one of your local beers with me. I promise if you recommend it then I will try it (if I can find it).
So lets get on with the promised drink we were going to have together.
This week I am cracking open a Muskoka Detour. It as an American IPA with a 4.3% Alcohol by Volume.
It is available in both a bottle and a can, I always choose cans when possible as I find that are easier to recycle.
This beer is brewed in Bracebridge Ontario which is about a 4 hour drive from my house. I have spent many a long weekend up there in the summertime. One of my good friends had a cottage just minutes from Bracebridge.
On the back of the can is a brief description of the beer as usual. It states "A refreshingly adventurous beer for those who want to stray from the everyday. Dry-hop brewed as a sessionable IPA, it delivers a rewarding aroma and a taste less travelled. Check your Enjoy Before date as our beer is best fresh-a result of our pure, natural, unfiltered brewing process."
Now for the pour! The beer is a golden colour and is a bit hazy/foggy. About an inch of head formed with larger sized bubbles. The foam subsided fairly quickly but the beer itself continued to bubble. There was an aroma as described on the can, the smell was hoppy with a hint of citrus.
OK, now for the fun part.
Cheers to cold Beers!
This was actually a decent tasting beer. It was fairly light and the hoppy flavour was there but not overpowering. It also had a slight fruity/citris taste. It went down very easy since it was nice and cold. The carbonation held up well while a finished the entire glass. I could have drank 2 more of these easily.
As a final score I would give this beer a 7.5 out of 10
