On a recent trip to Florida’s west coast, I saw a couple relaxing at the beach under a brightly colored sun shade. The sun shade was rippling in the wind and the couple seemed unfazed sitting in their chairs enjoying the day. They had their blue beach cart sitting there also, no doubt with a cooler of adult beverages in it. I thought this might make a good painting, so I took a few photos of them to take home with me. Here’s the little painting that resulted from that scene.

Here’s the photo I took with the drawing grid that I use to ensure I get an accurate start to my paintings. As you can see, I made a few changes, simplifying the beach chairs and adding clouds to add some interest to the sky. I hope you like it.
