Interesting comments by Kim Dotcom about bitcoin that I happen to agree with. If something was wrong with the bitcoin protocol, it have been found by now. The only known vulnerabilities require one to basically have control of the Internet or half of the bitcoin network. When all bitcoins are mined, the value will only go up. This is a long term investment... In the meantime, it would be nice to see more retailers accept it.
