Hi Steemit!
I suck at keeping deadlines I do apologize... I'm a teacher trainer as well and I have two intensive workshops this weekend, organisation of which takes up a lot of my time. But time for the last piece of Politeness week :)
[PL message below.]
This technique is especially useful in kind of negotiation.
Can't and won't have strong negative meanings when used at a negotiating table. It seems like you are stubborn and reluctant to accept any changes (this might in reality be the case, but you don't really want to convey this message, do you?
That is why both these verbs can be replaced (look at the pic above)
We are unable . not able to accept this -
kind of means you would like to but there is no possibility (not that you're stubborn!)
We are not in a position to change this.
indicates that perhaps someone above you (your boss) is reluctant to do anything, whereas you would like to but simply don't have the power to do so.
Yes, it is psychological.
Yes, it might seem a bit manipulative.
but if we want to have a successful this is one of the techniques that needs to be followed...

W angielskim jest to prostsze, ponieważ czasownik modalny can't zmieniamy na unable / not able,
a won't, który brzmi bardzo agresywnie (mocne zapreczenie) na not in a position to.
Czy uważacie że jest to forma manipulacji?
