Of course no one is truly self sufficient. However I believe everyone should be storing at least a month worth of food and three would be much better if you can do it. The just in time delivery system that every grocery store operates on limits their inventory
to about three days. For what ever reason the delivery system could break down and suddenly there is no food in the store. So if you are on a budget add a couple cans of what you like to eat to your pantry each time you go shopping. What if there is winter storm and
your power goes down. Do you have a generator? Well you should have one. I do. If you get one start it up and learn how to operate it. You can't run the whole house with it but maybe the fridge and a light or two. Also a flashlight and extra batteries.
A battery powered radio is also a must have in order to keep up with what is happening in your area.
