In today's Team SmartCash post, I wanted to give a general overview of an estimation of payouts for running a SmartNode, and I also wanted to add in the estimation for SmartRewards if a node operator decided to hold long term.
At current prices of 1 SMART = $0.162, it would cost $1620 to setup up a SmartNode. For those who don't know, a SmartNode is simply the name for a SmartCash masternode. Masternodes are a full node with a static IP that runs 24/7 and traditionally performs extra services such as obfuscation or instant pay. SmartCash's instantpay feature is currently in the testing phase and will be released with wallet v1.2
Keep in mind that this calculator is an estimation and these numbers will change with the price of smart, the amount of smartnodes enabled, and with the block height.
Given current variables, you can estimate to be paid 164 SMART roughly every 8 days.
Now let's take this a step further. Let's assume that we are going to be long term holders and are not going to sell any of our rewards. If 10,000 SMART is held in the wallet and no rewards are sold during the snapshot from the 25th of one month to the 25th of the next, then the wallet will also be eligible for Smart Rewards. Smart Rewards are simply a percentage of the block rewards paid out to anyone with a balance over 1,000 Smart that have not sent a transaction between snapshots.
Keep in mind once again that this is an estimation, and the % you earn depends on the amount of other eligible holders during the snapshot. If less people are eligible, then the % will be higher. Usually the percentage is lowest right after the 25th, which is right around now on the 28th, and the percentage climbs as more and more people become ineligible during the month. The march payout was 3%
At current prices and rates, if your SmartNode wallet is eligible you will also receive a roughly 2% bonus on top of your SmartNode payouts.
