The total capacity of Lightning Network (LN), for the first time of its existence, reached 600 000 USD or 81,4 bitcoins, according to lnmainnet.gaben.win. Currently the total network capacity is 600 793,99 USD:
I would like to mention that at the end of June, the capacity of LN was about 150 000 USD, and at the beginning of the year — only 40 000 USD. This is a sign that the interest in LN is slowly increasing.
I want to remind you that most members of the bitcoin community believe that LN can play a key role in solving the problem of bitcoin scalability.
In my opinion, if the capacity of LN reaches tens of millions of dollars (i.e. 30-50 millions USD) and the bitcoin transactions on the LN will be performed without any technical problems, in this case, the interest in bitcoin will start to grow significantly again, and its price will be able to renew its historical maximum of December 2017, which is close to the level of 20 000 USD for a single coin.
