In the short term, there seems to be no competition for Facebook. However in the mid-to-long term horizon, there seems to be some potential concern

1. For the first time ever, facebook users have gone down.

2. Engagemet in Facebook has been going down as well. This could be could be due to rise in other social media platforms like Twitter, Snapchat etc. Or is there some issues with how Facebook works?

3. Facebook and Google dominate advertising. They have massive power on what information people receive. Could there be a change in future of how we create and share content?

4. Who can catch the growth of internet use in Africa, China and Asia? There is going to be massive growth of internet users in those areas mentioned, while in the english speaking world the use of internet is closer to it's peak. Can a new social media platform have a role to play in this?

5. The spread of fake news is a negative for Facebook? The spread of fake news can have massive political impacts. Can a new platform have a process to control the spread of fake news/FUD?

6. Facebook has been banned in the past or is currently banned in few countries like China, Iran, Bangladesh etc. There has also been many regulations on Facebook due to data protection, free speech etc. Could there be more bans in the future which affects Facebook?
