A room where students took their doctoral exams, always in the evening and in private. Only the student and the teachers were allowed in the room. This examination continued until the second half of the 18th century.
Today, it is a part of the University of Coimbra that is visited by thousands of tourists. On the walls are portraits of 30 Rectors from the 16th to the 18th century. On each one is the duration, months and years, of each mandate.
