History

In the 1960s and 1970s, New York was documented through the eyes of Joel Meyerowitz and Vivian Mayer, among many others, establishing street photography as a respected photographic genre.


However, in the early decades of the 20th century, Paris was the birthplace of photographers shooting in the streets. Famous names such as Henri Cartier-Bresson (considered the father of street photography), Robert Doisneau, and Eugene Atget were pioneers of this photographic genre..
