The brand that I use for my phosphate binder is "Renvela" it's generic name is Sevelamer carbonate and i use it so that my guts would not absorb the phosphates or phosphorus contained in the foods that I eat or at least most of it. For so long a time my body's phosphorus had been elevated which is why I am suffering from the weakening of the bones and bone deformities in my face and backbone.
My hyperparathyroid was caused by the long-term high elevations of phosphorus in my body. So much so that it often causes me to have an itchy skin as a sign of high elevation of phosphorus. I really have no clue before on how to manage it because not even my nephrologist is telling me about it.
I do not have the means of buying this kind of medicine and for one thing it wasn't prescribed to me by my Nephrologist. It was just me that asked for a prescription so that I can buy it with a discount because I am have a disability card that gives me a discount so that I can buy it with about 32% off total from value added tax and disability discounts respectively.
I am thankful for the government in making this medicine along with other important but expensive medicines to get a big price cut because it was priced at 88 pesos per tablet but now with my discount as a PWD I can buy it now for 40 pesos per tablet.
I just hope that Cinacalcet will get included but that kind of medicine is not widely used because dialysis patients use it but not all because of its forbidding price and the bad side-effects that it causes that I was always complaining about.
I am just giving my parathyroid no reason to be hyperactive which is why I am so restrictive about my diet and not eating or drinking foods that are high in phosphorus and phosphates even though I like foods such as milk but I just have to cut back or eliminate those completely, a compromise that I have to do so that my bone condition would not get exacerbated.
I just wanted to get my imbalances to normalize soon so that my bones would start or maybe continue to heal and my body's pains to dissipate so that I can live much better without the fear of something would break or give me a worse situation than I am currently suffering from.
