So I opened my e-mail today and saw a nice message from our friends at CoinBase. As you can see, they have made changes to my payment methods, which ultimately means my credit card is no longer accepted on the site (great). This comes just after I've already maxed out all 3 of my credit cards... jk but I always find it interesting people were willing to finance BTC, maybe not the best item to extend your credit on. Of course, I have bought BTC on CoinBase with my CC, like a dummy (there are so many other ways to do it with out horrendous fees).
This is the beginning of a trend that I am both happy and sad to see. With the recent attention of Bitconnect, Tether, multiple ICO scams, and other general FUD , Big Brother is starting to notice. He is already working on regulation and will make sure to take his piece of the pie for ensuring we all play fair. It is inevitable, and on some level needed. In my opinion, the least amount of regulation is necessary, but history shows that usually things tend to get over regulated and then corrupted. This is my extreme fear for BitCoin and other cryptocurrencies. I do not look forward to playing cat and mouse games to protect my investments, but it seems there are always attacks from multiple fronts. And in that spirit I will try to be as happy as possible and support any regulation that will help protect our community, but also protest strongly any regulation taking us in the wrong direction.
The only thing I am certain of is this is a time of change and so we have a chance, even duty, to make an impact on the world. The crypto space is closer than many communities and we really do have a great sense of unity. Although we may fight among ourselves sometimes, we all see the same end goal. I look forward to staying informed and discussing issues with the whole community so that we can help point things in the best direction for the future. Whether you believe in BitCoin, Doge, Ethereum, or my favorite STEEM, or see use for many of them, lets do our best to look out for one another and spread good and reliable information.
