Bitcoin maximalism is the train of thought that Bitcoin is the only one true cryptocurrency and any other altcoin is not desirable. While many may argue that this thought process is questionable because while Bitcoin serves as a store of value, other alt-coins like ETH and XRP serve many real life use cases. But Bitcoin maximalists think otherwise. They believe that Bitcoin stands against the
governments, banks who are control freaks and privacy intruders. Bitcoin stands for trust-less transactions without the need for third party intervention. It stands for a revolutionary movement where money can move freely without borders and without control.

However, the truth remains that some alt-coins do possess real life value. For example ETH can be used for building decentralized apps and can function as a smart contract platform. XRP solves the banking and foreign exchange liquidity problem. This is where there is a clear difference in mindset.

All I can say is that there is no right or wrong party in this debate. It is just a difference of opinion. However, the most important thing is how different types of cryptocurrencies will exist in the same ecosystem and work together.
