Okay fair point, and I kind of knew you'd say that. However the difference with Messi, is that he has scored a phenomenal amount of goals for Barca, he has won the champions league and league multiple times and is clearly one of the greats.
Both he and Ronaldo went a few seasons being involved in at least 100 goals for Barca and Madrid, both have won world player of the year about 5 or 6 times between them.
Messi's continued absence as an international world beater is an anomaly to say the least. One thing I would say though, is that if Messi was Brazilian, we wouldn't be talking about his lack of international medals.
P.S. I've just looked at that list, and you can't compare. Messi's goals are predominantly in competitive matches, whilst Neymar's are friendlies.
