David is 12 years old. He won award as best student of the year. He has won so many quiz competitions in different schools.
“The Pepsi academic scholarship should be given to David as the best student of the year. He should be on scholarship till college.” Said the principal in the assembly ground.
David came out to collect the prize given to him by the principal. Other students cheers and clapped for him as he make the move to collect the prize.
David's father, Derrick, was very happy to see his son as the best student of the year. He was proud of his son.
Derrick wants David to live a better life. So he can achieve his goals in life.
After the end of the year party in school, Derrick and David went home for more celebration.
The following morning David woke up, he tries to stand up and greet his father but he could not move his body. David tried rolling around, but he cannot move his body.
“Dad, dad, I can't move my body.” David screamed.
Derrick rushed from his room to his son's room.
“David why are you screaming?”
“Dad, I can't move my body, I can't dad.” Cried David.
Derrick was shocked at what happened to his son. He weeps the tears in David's eyes.
Derrick carried David to the hospital.
The Doctor says, “Your son has stroke due to loss of blood supply. He will need cardiac monitoring. For the medications, he will need Alteplase, Blood thinners, and Antihypertensive drug. You will have to get money for all this.”
Derrick don't have enough money for all this, he felt the world is against him.
David told his father that everything will be fine.
Derrick works hard to earn enough money for his son's medications.
David didn't give up on school. He continued his classes. His father took him to school every day.
Finally, David wrote the scholarship exam. He came first position.
Derrick was so proud of his son. The money for the medications were ready.
David gets the medications. He can now move his body and walk on his own.
David was a gifted child. A light to the world.
