On the coastline of İstanbul, Eminönü is famous for "fish bread". We, along with many other tourists came here for lunch to try it out. Welcome to Tarihi Eminönü Balık Ekmek
The kitchen is actually on a boat, open air grill for everyone to look
Packed like Sardines
Lunch service was busy and full. Every customers are sitting very close to each other. We couldn't believe how busy it was but this food is something everyone visiting İstanbul must try.
Fish and Bread
The name of the food describe itself really well. The bread is filled with a slice of grilled fish. Bit of sliced onions and parsley are added too. It lacked sauce and was dry. The fish wasn't seasoned at all but at least it didn't smell bad!
Self service
While we were enjoying our sandwich the staff walked by carrying extras that we could get, such as lemonade or pickles. They were quite persistent and came around quite often.
Price: 15 Liras
For the sandwich of fish and bread, I think the sandwich wasn't worth it and it's simply a hype for all tourists to try.
