We did quite a lot of walking in Carmarthen yesterday to and from : starting in the public library where @jen0revision had some Chinese ‘revision’.
The weather was quite drab : damp and overcast which was a complete challenge to my mobile phone camera.
The building does need a lick of paint, but I mostly noticed the buddleia growing up on the side of the grand entry. It must attract a few butterflies to the windows nearby.
The importance of the place to me having read a bit about the family behind the building is that they set up the first bank in the area. You can read more about it here, but it was originally set up to aid their business and it used tokens.
This plaque was outside the building and shows the historical value of the place contrasting with its interior below.
When we arrived it was the library's opening time, ie 9:00 am, so we were the first 'keen' visitors of the day.
Although the road looks empty quite a few of the independent shops were already open. It's a very artistic area with art/craft shops and quite a few galleries, florists and shoe shops.
