I have seen a few posts on the new proposed hard fork 21 and honestly don't know how this one will play out. I have thought about it and here is my thought process in a simplified sort of way anyway.Who knows if the Hard Fork is going to happen or not, but it is good to just get some thoughts going though and get some clarity in the brain cells.
Curation and post rewards are going to supposedly change to a 50/50 split. currently we are at 75% author and 25 % curation. There is not a great deal of curation happening and this is not how it was supposed to be. Originally you were supposed to find posts you liked and read them, add a comment and vote. This is happening, but it is fairly rare as a percentage over the blockchain.
50/50 will I think take users away from bid bots. My reasoning is if you had 20 Steem and placed it on a bot today you would make an extra 10 or 15 percent coming out on top with 23 Steem or so. After this Hardfork you would share that Steem you placed on the bot 50/50 and would loose around 8 Steem in the process. It now becomes a gamble whether people will vote on your post or not to try and get the extra curation because you used a bot and will it be 8 Steem worth of votes?
I think for someone who can work the curation side of things and get up to speed quickly will be in the pound seats on this one. I always saw curation rewards as like having 2 or 3 posts extra a week and like the fact it was immediately powered up. That was on 75/25 though so I think a good curator could earn very well going forward and keeping your SP powered up and not delegated could be a major factor.
I say this as if you delegated a sizable chunk to an app and you received some tokens or an upvote it would most likely be more profitable to hold on and grow your Steem and you could just buy those tokens anyway. I don't know how this one is going to pan out and if it will even happen, but it is quiet now and we have nothing to lose by trying something different. I am looking forward to this as I see the opportunities that could well be here and who knows what is going to happen. It should be fun either way though and a new perspective is now needed.
