Last week I sent out quotes to a couple of clients which I am hoping to snag. Nothing has been easy over the last year, but I knew this one client was just different and not like the others. There was something about how the meeting went as they laid everything out making it simple to jump through the hoops with no guessing games. That is precisely how I think as at the end of the day both parties need to succeed achieving their goals.
This afternoon they asked for a new quote for an order as all their suppliers have raised their prices yet again. They wanted to allow me the opportunity to raise the prices if we wished to. This was the easiest email I have had to write as the quotes from last week stand and no further increases are necessary. What shocked me was the speed at which they moved as others take weeks to get back to you and shows how serious they are.
My chief competitor on this particular contract is the biggest supplier in the country for pallet wrap yet we are with their new prices over 20% cheaper. What is fantastic is we were forwarded the quotes from the other companies and this has shown them what kind of people we are. Sometimes these are tests and I don't think so in this case.
Tomorrow I expect to receive the first order which will be a test on what type of service we provide. The big picture which I was told about is that this is just one of many and from my understanding over 20 other accounts. Sounds like nothing really but if you kept these accounts and never lost them they are big enough to retire on. As tempting as that sounds my duty is to grow the company and not take the easy street as who knows what is around the next corner.
Maybe 4 years ago I would be happy doing just that but after fighting my way on Hive growing every day that would seem like giving up. People may not understand how powerful learning the ability to grow really is and once you have learned this skill it can be implemented in real life scenarios. A stupid block chain like Hive has taught me so much about myself and is helping me battle growing a business in trying times. Every challenge I face in the real world seems insignificant compared to what I faced on day one 3 years ago starting out on Hive. Having no stake and no value is that tough and starting a business from nothing is far easier.
I find it funny to think that so many real life lessons can be learned on a place just by your own actions. We don't realise how powerful the mind is and we are always constantly thinking of the next post, subconsciously taking mental notes of things around us. This should be a good week as Monday started off very well for me.
