You have to love what happened to this group of around 250 Tottenham football fans yesterday. I stumbled upon this one when they were just landing in Madrid.The one guy was sending tweets giving updates throughout their ordeal and I found it amusing.
Yesterday was the Champions League Final in Madrid,Spain. I found a funny story unfolding as a plane load of Tottenham supporters were sitting on the runway at Stanstead airport in London. This is likely to be the biggest match a Tottenham supporter will ever get to see and these guys looked like they could end up missing the whole game entirely.
A bird had flown into the engine and they were delayed for hours at the airport. Finally they took off many hours later than planned and landed in Madrid at 8.40 pm. This gave them 20 minutes to get from the airport to the ground. This would have been guaranteed a quick evacuation from the plane in an orderly fashion with no one slowing down for anything. The bus convoy had a police escort taking them directly to the ground. They had 15 minutes and they still had hope. They actually believed they would hear the whistle for the start of the game. I must admit I was rooting for these guys now as with a police escort just maybe.

The guy sending the messages was actually quite funny as on the bus trip to the ground which was whizzing through the streets of Madrid they finally spot the stadium and they can hear the anthem from the Heineken advert and know the game is about to start.

We know they aren't at the ground yet as the game has kicked off already and within 2 minutes Liverpool score. Obviously a bus full of optimistic Spurs fans must have been cursing their rotten luck. They are only too happy to make it though as at one point they had no chance. They missed 12 minutes of the game and the opening goal.

Within 3 hours of landing they are back at the airport and you guessed it the flight has been cancelled lol. Obviously Spurs fans aren't used to travelling but who books flights so close to the end of a game. What if there was extra time? You have to at least enjoy the moment and not be in a mad rush all the time. I did find this story fairly funny though and this group can at least enjoy themselves drinking in the airport now.
