A friend of mine who I have stayed in touch since my Army days is visiting on Thursday. Apparently Thursday is a bank/public holiday and only if you work for someone else do you know these things. That bit is true as I used to know when the next day off was and now clueless.
Whilst chatting on the phone as we tend to talk about countless tons of crap he mentioned he has to be retired by 60 as that was always his plan. He asked me when I planned to stop working which mind you will never happen as I enjoy it too much, but mentioned 4 years being 2026.

I truly believe anyone involved with crypto for 2 complete cycles should be stinking rich or a total idiot that will never make it. It is one or the other as you either get it or you don't. Harsh for some, but then so is life as it takes no prisoners.
He asked me how cocksure can I be with the timings and explained briefly the big plan of learning from experiences and putting them to the test over the coming 4 years. He knows about crypto but got stuck on Verge and Pornhub's collaboration the last time I can remember. I bet you anything he still has Verge hoping for a miracle. Look he still has crypto so he is not a lost case and I know he is coming over for a day of learning more than just a catch up.
It is true though as how many people do we know in crypto who are in a different financial class due to just being in crypto for many years. Many of my friends outside in the real world have money, but not real money as they are up to their necks in debt. If they all paid back what they owed they would all be broke so that doesn't count in my book. You may drive a fancy car or live in a swanky palace, but the bank owns it and therefore owns you. I can comfortably place my hand on my heart knowing the bank doesn't own me and never will. I hate debt and can never live off credit as it is something I can never contemplate.
In crypto there is a different financial class altogether which is creating huge amounts of wealth just by being involved. I am nowhere near where I plan to be in 4 years time but the journey has started being 45 months in already. Not one of us will be in the same financial position in 2026 unless we have made some really big mistakes along the way meaning we have learned nothing form previous experiences. Many of us ventured into crypto to make a difference to how we live and that goal has never changed. Another 4 years of compounding and staying active on Hive plus all my other crypto interests will be worth something far greater than today. If that is not the case then crypto would have failed everyone and we can't be all wrong.
Personally I know I will most likely never retire fully as I do enjoy working too much. I enjoy new challenges and testing myself as every day is different. The one thing the lockdowns taught me is I like meeting and dealing with people everyday as that is fun. Staying at home retired doing mundane stuff would kill me off quicker than anything else.
