This week I reached another milestone in my Hive career which is not something I expected as there were no expectations. Hive is just that different when you are new as it is hard to make sense of as this is a mind bender, but thankfully very real. When I joined I thought I was late being account number 828,518 which apparently is still early.
When I joined it was March 18th, 2018 and was given 10 Hive Power on loan which I had to pay back so I could at least function. This took around 6 weeks to pay back and finally get into the red. These were tough times as everything earned on Hive has been without any monetary investment besides time.
There are many extra spin offs by working on Hive that help develop you as a human being. The clarity of thought using Hive to work through business strategies by writing has changed my thought processes.
Growing from 0 is not easy and is not for the feint hearted as it is a constant battle to gain some traction. Stake makes more stake and without stake you need to work 10 x as hard as everyone else. Remaining consistent and not worrying what others are earning is key to growth as we all grow at different speeds.
The strategy starting out was to catch everyone ahead of me by doing more and spending more time online. This strategy has obviously worked which involved spending 8 hours a day every day for the first few years. This is real commitment mixed with sacrifice which has paid off today. If Hive was that easy then everyone would have plenty of Hive and it would hold no value.
I see the first 5 years as phase number one and now the next five years is the second phase. Businesses in the real world take around 20 years to be fully established and online I kind of think 10 years is the equivalent time frame. the first phase is the learning period building your foundations for what is to come.
When you start to break things down it is not surprising the growth that has taken place due to the hours involved. I would guess the 5 years has represented a solid 18 months on Hive if it was recorded as a value of time (possibly more). The thing is what would I have done in that time as it would most likely be watching junk on television offering no value whatsoever. Time well spent if you ask me and what will only bode well for the future.
Like most of us I take pride in my account as this is personal and reflects what you have achieved. This is a very different crypto investment as it has far more meaning due to the efforts required.
Checking Hive Buzz over the 5 years I have posted 3411 articles which is an average of just under 2 per day. For someone who didn't like writing when he first joined this has now changed my thought process. I noticed I need to pick the comment numbers up as averaging 12 per day is not brilliant and should be closer to 20.
The Hive power growth is what is rather fascinating and what should give hope to anyone starting out. I stopped setting targets many years ago as you rely on the community for growth so you can only do so much yourself. The average growth is a shade under 50 Hive per day which is mind boggling considering the first year I was averaging around 5 Hive per day.
Snowballing and compounding is your friend on Hive when it comes to growth as my APR is now worth 50 Hive per week. The curation vote earning potential is worth another 140 Hive per week which combined is equal to around 9K Hive per year. This surely highlights why it is important to have stake as growth happens every day whether you are here or not. This is the passive income being generated for the future as these numbers will only continue to increase over time.
5 years is just a number so there is no change required to growth strategies as we are all here to support others whilst growing. The target of 100K Hive Power is next followed by 150k HP after that. These milestones should become easier to achieve than the first 15kHP which is crazy, but true. This is why sticking to the plan by keeping it simple does work and will pay off eventually. Who knows this could be worth a small fortune just by doing what we all love to do and that is being part of this wonderful community.
