This is a documentary about bitcoin mining by CBSNews, that was released sometime in the summer this year (2018). It concerns the movement of mining facilities to the small town of Wenatchee in Washington State, USA. The influx is owing to cheap hydroelectric power from the Colombia river.
Not all the locals are happy about the new economy. A lot of businesses have set up in industrial areas, which keeps the noise away from people, and with proper facilities, so there aren't any burnouts, but others are smaller operations which must be quite annoying, when they are too noisy for the neighbours, and when they burn out the residential lines.
One interesting sidelight is how those in the business are preparing to change tack, and go into supercomputing and AI if cryptos fail at some point, so they have really got their backs covered by thinking ahead.
Of course, this is more a news item about the effect of new tech on a local community, than it is an introduction to that technology.
