Yes, Ronny Tomes's company has created its own digital currency, which is not yet known, but is already accepted in the famous café. The currency was issued last January and is currently trading around $0.10 per token.
Purpose of crypto-café
With the launch of this coffee shop, which sells exclusively in cryptos, CEO Ronny Tome's main goal is to promote their own digital currency in the country, as well as popular currencies such as Bitcoin. He just admitted it in an interview:
"The idea of coffee was developed because we wanted to make sure that people could use our Ducatus coins, but also bitcoins and other cryptos in everyday business."
Even the location of the famous café does not seem to have been chosen randomly. Indeed, it is right in front of one of Singapore's central banks, as if Mr. Tome wanted to send a message to the country's financial institutions. He adds, by the way:
"Currently, cryptocurrencies are mainly used for market speculation. We want them to be part of our daily lives. We just want to make sure that people understand that cryptos are there... Developments are rapid and governments may have some problems to follow this trend."
Note that Ronny Tome's crypto-café offers handmade coffee, sandwiches and beauty products to pay for in ducatus or bitcoin. The icing on the cake is even an ATM encryptor to make it easier for customers.
