In as much as i love shooting outdoors, in the field, location, etc. I love that blurry background in my photos, bokehs in the background, color grading, etc. That's how much i also love studio portraits.
Lately i felt i had to step up my studio lighting game so i sourced a lot of materials, read books,watched videos, ( that's only one part) then practice.
So i called a friend to model for me and he was more than will to do so. We gotta the studio and here was my light setup
I positioned my main light about 2feet from my models head,had it feathered . i then placed a reflection under the light, angle about 60掳 towards my model to fil up unwanted shadows.
Above is the raw image straight out of camera. As you can see, i moved me some distance from the background so i can have less light as possible on the back ground. I wanted that drama in the image.
Above is the retouched image in photoshop.
My camera settings were; shutter speed 1/200, ISO 100 F/7.1 i used godox ad600 at 1/8 power.
