God has never drew Himself far away from us. Rather, we were the ones who drew far away from Him. And we did so by our actions. Things such our our day to day activities, the thoughts we harbor in our minds, and how we drew ourselves away from the service towards Him.
Revelation 2:4 - "Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love."
The scripture above cites an instance of people who once had their hearts dedicated towards God, but somewhere along the line they departed from God. But even when we depart from God, He still urges us to return back to Him because of the love He has from us.
This is why some people pray and don't receive answers. Not because God doesn't want to answer but because they have departed away from Him without even knowing.
Malachi 3:7– “Even from the days of your fathers ye have gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?”
Moving away from God's ordinances is not something that happened today. Our fathers in the days of old also walked away from the ordinances of God and didn't keep them. When we depart from God's ways and neglect His commandments He will not hear our prayers. The Bible told us in Isaiah 59:2 that God's ears are not too dull to hear us, but our iniquity has separated us from Him.
If we maintain the right christian life God is faithful enough to always hear us and respond when we call. But when we regard iniquity in our hearts it comprises our relationship with God and He won't hear us when we call.
