LUV is a token, born 10 or so days ago, and is slowly maturing. It's kind of interesting to watch...a real-life, dynamic economics lesson, kind of like watching an amoeba go through mitosis under a microscope.

One of the first things we learn in an intro-to-Econ class is the concept of a "market." The textbook definition goes something like this: a market is a place where a buyer and a seller meet. There, the two can negotiate a possible deal, and they may or may not engage in a transaction. Something like a flea market is the purest of markets. This is because of flexibility in prices. Prices can be negotiated up by the seller or down by the buyer. One of the glories of a free and open market is that even when a transaction does not take place...when the buyer at the flea market walks away...even then, the non-transaction influences future prices. For instance, after failing to make a sale and losing an interested buyer, that seller at the flea market will likely start wondering to herself, "Gee. Maybe $25 is too much to ask. Perhaps I'll edge it down to $20."

Exchanges like https://hive-engine.com and https://tribaldex.com are also markets that pretty pure as well. Buyers and sellers get together online and do their things.

It's interesting to watch the LUV token's market grow and mature. There are buyers, well, one. There are sellers. Two. Each is doing what they do. The buyer is throwing out a, "Hey! I wanna buy some LUV. I'll pay for it." The sellers are saying, "Hey! Anybody wanna buy some LUV? I'll sell it to you."

The magic question, then, is whether the buyer and seller can agree on a price. For example, a person might walk up to a flea market seller's booth and offer $5 for that incredible, six foot tall, plastic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle statue. Even though the price tag lists $25, the buyer offers $5. That's a fairly large spread...negotiation will be needed for a transaction to occur. Being new on the scene, the LUV spread is, well, wide.

LUV is currently in the ultimate "price discovery" mode. It will be interesting to see the buy/sell bid/ask negotiation mature. And it will be interesting when the first LUV transaction occurs.
