China's Google launches Baidu Blockchain-based image protection platform
China's Google is launching a Baidu Blockchain-based image protection platform. Chinese Internet search giant Baidu announced on Wednesday (April 11th) that it has launched a Blockchain-based digital image protection platform.
China's Google is building a Blockchain-based platform named Baidu Totem
The service, called the totem, keeps each original image on a Blockchain that can be tracked temporally with a real-time ID and other user data.
The Blockchain system will not be reproduced or trackable to prove or deny copyright infringement claims
According to Baidu's description, the company's current artificial intelligence capacities - including image analysis and semantic understanding - will be fed into the construction of unique image tags. The basic Blockchain system, which allows viewing of transferred images, can not be duplicated and tracked to prove or deny copyright infringement claims.
It is unclear whether Blockchain used by Totem is public or open based
Baidu has announced that traditional stock photography services, including Getty Images partner Visual China Group, are already on platforma. The company did not disclose whether Blockchain used by Totem was public or open based. Baidu's Totem keeps track of Kodak's own image rights management blockchain platform, announced in 2018. In the same way, he uses a digital notebook to establish his ownership.
Kodak's stock doubled in value following the announcement of the Blockchain platform and the ICO
It also offers a KODAKCoin token to pay and receive dividends for image licenses of the online photo community. Kodak's stock doubled in value following the announcement of the Blockchain platform and the ICO. However, the launch of the token was delayed as the company followed SEC requirements to assess the financial position of US-based potential investors.
