Life...it waits for no one. It keeps moving, time keeps passing and events take place whether you are ready for it or not. We grow, we age and our bodies change without warning. Some get to grow to see their grandchildren and even their greats. But others aren’t as fortunate. Some leave this life peacefully in their sleep but others have sudden unfortunates which leave a family devastated. Either way, it’s always hard to say goodbye. No matter how prepared you are you will never know how you will feel when the time to say goodbye actually comes.
Tomorrow we lay my grandfather to rest. He lived a long fulfilled life...he lived to be 91. He was blessed to see and spend time with his great, great grandchildren. It was only until recently I became close to him. We had an estranged relationship when I was younger but things were mended and better between us starting in my late twenties. I only wish we were closer much earlier then I would have had more time to enjoy him. I am thankful for the time I was given.
On top of this, I got word that my nephew (age 22), who has kidney failure (end stage renal disease) may have an infection that has traveled to his heart. He lost one of his kidneys at age 11 and has had two kidney transplants since. He has dialysis treatment weekly and is fighting to care about living. Can you imagine at the age of 11 being told you would have to be hooked up to a machine almost everyday to live?...and take Lord knows how many pills. He is currently on the donor list again waiting for another kidney as this one is failing. He is okay now, the doctors said the infection is not near his heart. He now has to take antibiotics on top of his normal pill schedule in order to kill the infection.
