We recently moved into a house with a big yard. I have been living in apartments for last 10 years so , I had no experience cutting yards. But yards always fascinated me. Looking at a nicely cut lawn feels really good for some reason.
Well, After about a week the grass on our lawn was getting taller and taller. I went to Home Depot and bought a Lawnmower. The salesman pushed and pushed and tried to sell me protection plan but failed. He said, "I hope you don't have to come back with a broken mower and pay $125 to fix it. The protection plan is only half of that for 3 years." I declined the offer.
Back home, everything went well. I assembled the mower and started mowing part of my lawn.
It was fun so I went in circles in the middle of the lawn. Then I went all zig zag. Then I stopped to take off the grass as the grass catcher filled up. Then suddenly the mower doesn't start up. I wondered what was wrong and checked the oil tank. It was steamy. I don't know my reasoning but I filled the oil tank with a full liter of oil.
Then I tried to start the mower and smoke came out from mower. The whole yard was smoky and smelt smoky. I thought the mower's engine was about to explode.
I thought about the salesman and wondered if I should've bought the protection plan.
It was getting dark so I brought my lawnmower back, not until after my lawn was full of smoke because I tried to start it way to many times. My lawn was all zig-zag cut and people were turning and looking at my lawn like there was a crazy man in the neighborhood.
Next day I talked to a friend and he said, "A liter of engine oil will last you whole year. Dump it all off and add it to the proper level. let the mower make some smoke and after 30 seconds everything will be normal".
And it was true. I got my mower working nicely and cut my lawn properly. It feels so good to look at the lawn now.
