Friends hivers, I tell you that this was my last day in the high guajira and still leaving there I was in two great places, first we passed through a great desert and it looks very cool, because when it rains there are large pools of water and as time passes it dries and forms these geometric trunks, is my way of seeing it, however the name that is really given is called desertification, which is the degradation of the soil in arid, semi-arid and sub-hunedas, mainly by this natural phenomenon. The truth is that I was very impressed by its beauty, because I had never seen an extension of desertification of such magnitude.
Then we continued another 3 hours or so to reach a beach called mayapo and in this extensive beach there are different hotels, businesses that have their private area and give it a particular name, as in this case isaashi beach, in this place we stopped for lunch and to enjoy this beautiful beach.
Alli on this beach is quite windy and this allows the practice of windsurfing, which I would have liked to experience, however the time was short and we had about 2 hours to enjoy the sea or just sit and chat, tanning etc..
For this reason I would like to come back, because it is a sport that looks very interesting, you must have a good technique, strength and dexterity to manage to handle this sail, standing on a board, controlling the direction and speed with the wind. Kitesurfing is also practiced which involves traccuionarval athlete on a board or ski. La Guajira is a very popular destination for having more than 300 windy days a year and takes the opportunity to organize events such as the Kite Fest Guajira, on the other hand, La Guajira has its own sailing league to consolidate and promote the sport.
For my part I enjoyed watching those who practiced it while I bathed in the sea, and walked along the shore taking some pictures, I was also impressed to see so many shells on the seashore and even brought some to have a nice souvenir.
In this place they sold all kinds of liquor, cocktails and drinks typical of the coast as the coco loco; on this occasion as it is known, the heat of the coast provokes and allows to take some good and refreshing beers until the hours to go out. While this time was ending I saw pelicans diving into the sea to catch fish, which is something amazing.
By the end of the afternoon, at approximately 5 pm we arrived back in riohacha, where I stayed again in the same place, took a shower and later went out to eat something and watch the match between Atletico Nacional and Bahia de Brasil for the Copa Libertadores.
Thus ended this great and wonderful day, which I definitely recommend to visit. Thanks for reading and I wish you a great start of the week.
