“Do not forsake your own friend or your father’s friend,
And do not go to your brother’s house in the day of your calamity;
Better is a neighbor who is near than a brother far away.”
- Proverbs 27:10
Have you ever wondered what Jesus was like as a person?
What would it have been like to have Jesus as a friend?
Would you have gotten to know the trivia of his life?
What was he like growing up? Did Jesus have childhood friends? Did he have favorite hangouts?
As a young man in the family business, how many hours a day did Jesus work? Did he earn and save silver coins?
Jesus, Lord, I know so little of you...
Oh, that my eyes might be opened anew!
Just a glimpse into your life as a man
Some insight to spur devotion more true
Some insight to spur devotion more true
By your word you birthed the heavens above
Blazing galaxies show us proof of your love
Was the struggle grim, becoming a man?
Suddenly constrained to make things by hand?
As a craftsman, constrained to make things by hand?
In the morning as you started your day
Did you stretch and yawn as you rose from the hay?
Was the color of your cloak a concern
When you bought your clothes with an artisan's pay?
As you purchased your garb on an artisan's pay?
Did your mother cook special meals that you prized?
Were you troubled knowing you'd be despised?
Did you travel with a staff in your hand?
Were you chilly after being baptized?
Was it windy the day that you were baptized?
Lord, I wish that we could meet for a meal
I could tell you all the things that I feel
I would ask you all my questions and then
I'd look forward to our meeting again
I'd look joyfully forward to meeting again
I'll be counting the hours 'til we meet again
I am so looking forward to seeing my friend!
"I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you." - John 15:15
