This weekend I have been testing out my new tablet, Lenovo m10 FHD Plus.
It is sold as a fairly vanilla tablet without all the bells and whistles. However, it comes with the latest Android Pie, which was a big selling point for me when choosing a budget tablet.
Here I want to demonstrate some of capabilities I discovered for this fairly mundane budget tablet, starting with a 1 minute speed paint video I made with it.
Painting
Reviews stated this device was not compatible with a stylus pen, but actually that is not true I found out.
This art I designed in my first attempt using the ibisPaint X app using the cheapest rubber-tip stylus I could find. The app was really fun and easy to use, and I was very surprised with all the features it packs in for free, including the automatic speedpaint video showing my work.I learned that it's easier to avoid clicking the ads by pinching to rotate the canvas in the direction of a natural hand stroke. Oh, and the paintbucket will glitch the image, so don't use that tool!
Camera
Photos taken from the 8MP rear camera are not all that more amazing my old 2MP camera on my smartphone. The autofocus is no better at taking macro photos (especially on things like small flowers moving in the wind), although I was able to download a camera app that allows for a macro mode and a manual focus.
Colors are very snappy and pop much better on this new tablet. Many photos do look fine without any post-processing.
Misc
Really liking the battery life, as it can last most of the day for videos and painting. It doesn't really need a charge every day if used for lighter tasks, such as web surfing, email, and appointments. By not having a SIM card (no calls or text), I think this probably makes CPU task handling less of a battery drain.
The large Full HD 10.3 inch display is fantastic for my needs. It has loud Dolby Atmos enhanced side speakers and a regular audio headphone jack. I could see myself using this easily as a professional DJ device at events.
The biggest challenge now is puzzling out the variety of accessories to choose from.
The true challenge is going to be picking the right combination of accessories that all fit together on the tablet, without having to constantly remove one accessory to hook-up other thing.
The default USB-C is not my favorite type of charger to use. Yanking the tight connector off already has me worried I might break the device. So I'd really like to find a dock charger, since the tablet has contacts for this on the base. However a dock might conflict with a protective case. Finding a car stand that will hold a large screen tablet (while in it's fold-able case) is also going to be challenging.

Dtube
This is the first video post I've made since dtube switched to Hive. I'm having some problems accessing the old posting features they used to have. The tag bar doesn't seem to allow for custom tags anymore. Hopefully the description box still allows me to embed my signature images. They don't even have a post preview area for advanced edit.
However, I do like Dtube better than ThreeSpeak because they do not force ads onto my videos, and it is a free service.
