Yeah wood lasts most of the season. Chopsticks and even bamboo always end up disintegrating, especially in fertile soil. Plastic labels crack in the sun, and do not recycle or compost.

So far, my favorite label is actually aluminum sheets and wire because it can withstand sun and moisture. Usually sold with fruit tree grafting supplies, or you can try making your own from cans.
